Memorial Weekend

We spent Memorial weekend in Reno for Colby's basketball tournament. This was the BIG tournament that they have been gearing up for all season. Reno was buzzing! Our hotel was full of either basketball players or baseball players. Apparently, tournaments are a big deal in Reno over this weekend. There were two basketball tournaments going on and at least one baseball tournament. We had a great time and as always it was fun to watch Colby play!

Colby spent a good majority of his time hanging out with his teammates in between and after games. Ryan and I got the pleasure of entertaining Taylor! We had fun, just the three of us, with some good one-on-one time with Tay. He always keeps us laughing. I was glad that Colby got to know the other boys on his team a little better. They all go to different schools and several of them live outside of Stockton, so none of them really know each other. One of the boys had a birthday while we were there. His parents rented a limo and took all the boys to dinner. I told Colby to enjoy it because it would probably be the only time in his life where he would ride in a limo.

Their games went okay. They won only one game and it was their last game. I am amazed at the talent that so many boys' Colby's age has. You can tell that most of them have played since they could walk. It's fun to see the dynamic and talent of the other teams.

The best part of the weekend was, we had family time together! I really enjoy the four of us being together and doing our own thing. We didn't do anything extraordinary, we were just together and that was great!

Colby's season with this team is coming to an end but he's getting ready to start playing for a Manteca team. Several of the Dad's on his current team want him to take Catechism so he can play on the summer Catholic Youth team. That would be taking basketball to a whole new level, don't you think?
