These two left for Scout Camp this morning at 4 AM. I am going to miss them! It has been quite the experience trying to get two boys ready for Scout Camp rather than just one. We needed two of everything! This morning on the way to work I actually thought to myself that I was ready to go back to work because I needed a break from the busy-ness at home.
Colby and Taylor are quite the opposites! Everything they like, want to eat, is opposite. I think the only thing they have in common are their parents and sports. For being opposites, they really do get along well. They have their moments, but for the most part, things are peaceful at home. There hasn't been one fight or argument this summer while they've been home during the day. That's a record!
While preparing for Scout Camp, the boy's both had to have a physical. On Friday, Ryan took them to the doctor. In the doctor's findings, he found that Colby has grown 4 inches since last summer and that he has SLIGHT Scoliosis on the left side of his spinal cord. Taylor has grown 2 inches and has SLIGHT Scoliosis on the right side of his spinal cord. When I got home from work on Friday, Colby was sitting up straight as a board on the couch, while Taylor was lounging as usual. I had no idea about the Scoliosis, Ryan didn't tell me that part on the phone, so I asked Colby why he was sitting funny. He gets teary-eyed and says, "I have slight Scoliosis and the doctor said we have to sit up straight". I looked at Taylor, he shrugs his shoulders at me and says, "I have it, too". Obviously, Colby was way more concerned about this than Taylor was, which isn't unusal around our house. No one had really bothered to tell the boys what Scoliosis was and Colby thought he had some major disease. After explaining to them what it was and telling them that it really wasn't that big of a deal, Colby calmed down.
I had to go upstairs and laugh. This was such a typical situation in the life of Colby and Taylor. Colby freaks out and Taylor just shrugs his shoulders like it's no big deal. It will be very interesting to see what their week is like at camp. Colby is happy to blend in and just goes with the flow, while Taylor wants to be the funny man of the group and keep everyone laughing, which gets him in trouble once in a while. I'm sure they will both be glad to see Ryan when he gets up there to spend part of the week with them.
They're my boys, and I love 'em!
