Doesn't this little face look innocent? Well, he is most of the time but Saturday was a day of rebellion for him. I had to run to Target and we always take Hurley with us. My heart can't handle putting him in his kennel very much. Earlier in the week I had bought a package of Easter peeps, the bunny ones, and had allowed myself to have one or two a day on the way home from work. I was down to 10.
I had strategically placed the peeps in the door pocket of my car with the back side facing out so someone's little paws couldn't get to the remaining peeps. When we came out to the car on Saturday, all that I found on the floor of my car was the empty package. Some little schnauzer had eaten a little treat while we were in Target. Did I mention that he has a corn allergy and the second ingredient listed on the package was corn syrup?
He tried to deny it but his beard that had just had a bath that morning was now yellow! Taylor started singing the rap song "Black and Yellow" to him while I wondered when the inevitable corn allergy was going to attack. My first worry is always that he's going to die, so with some reassurance from Ryan, I knew he would probably be okay. While most people get online and shop or plan vacations, I found myself Saturday night googling "dogs digestive systems" to see how long it would be before he showed signs of his sugar high.
So far so good. I must have been extra good this week and am being blessed because so far, no reactions from the high dose of corn syrup. He was a little extra hyper, but that I can handle. I had visions of a very sick dog in my head. Taylor offered to stay home with him on Sunday to make sure he would be okay but I told Taylor he would survive three hours without us.
Lesson learned on my part. If a schnauzer really wants something, he'll find a way to get it. I think he thought he was doing me a favor by eating them for me so I wouldn't have to worry about the extra calories. That's his story, anyway.

HAHAHAHA. Love the last few blog posts cara. What a little turd. I promise I didn't teach him that! Glad he didn't get sick or kill over! And where does taylor come up with these things! Black and yellow? What a nerd! Love you guys!
Haha! That is too funny! Definitely a part of the family if he loves peeps too. Love Taylor's black and yellow singing. My boys love that song, or that part of the song. Even Winston will "sing" it.
