Superstar Shootout

At the beginning of the month, we made our way to the thriving metropolis of Tulare for a basketball tournament. This area is my stomping grounds for my road travels with work. Tulare is not a very big town, maybe 60,000-70,000 people and is primarily a farming community. We had a fun time and played lots of games as usual!

Game #2. There's #21!

Ryan spent the weekend coaching Colby's team as the regular coach was out of town and couldn't be there. He did a great job! I wish he felt like he had more time to coach because he has a lot of knowledge to offer the players and they like him. My nerves are really on edge to have Ryan out there coaching and Colby out there playing. If this was a permanent situation, I would probably need to take a muscle relaxer to calm my nerves before every game. The other parents on the team would probably think I was some sort of a lush.

Look at that form!

I'm not real sure what the parents in the area of Tulare are feeding their boys or if it's solely because they are farm boys but the boys in that area are big. I mean big! It was like watching football players on the basketball court. I was warned before we left that the boys in that area were big but I had no idea what we were getting into. Our boys did great! The 6th graders took first place, the 7th graders took second, and the 8th graders took second also. I think the highlight of the trip for Taylor was shaking the Stanford's Men's basketball coach's hand. He was pretty excited that he was there. He was there to watch the high school level boys play, not Colby's age group. That would have put some pressure on!

I always enjoy the road trips! It's fun to be together as a team and as families. We really have become a family with the other parents and players in the organization. We have a lot of fun together and the boys really love one another. I'm grateful that Colby gets to be part of something so great. The schnauzer thinks he's the mascot for the team, we haven't told him otherwise.

I think Hurley is scared of the balls. They are almost the same size as him and I read "yipes!" in his eyes. Good to hear that Colbs is still headed for the NBA. I still need an autograph. I plan to put it on ebay as soon as he signs on with the pros. At least he will retire one of us :)
PS If you kidnap my kids...can I come too? A trip to Cali sounds really fun!

Sounds like another fun tourney! I'm sure Ryan enjoyed coaching. I finally blogged about our fun day with you. It's taken a little while!
