A couple of weeks ago Colby and Taylor had their annual stake pinewood derby. This is a big event in our household! There's planning and drawing, cutting and sanding, then the painting and details- that's just Ryan's part! Ryan even bought a new tool this year to make the cars look better. Really, Ryan and the boys love doing the pinewood derby. They spend a lot of time together planning, sanding, and painting so it's great to see them spend some good dad-son time. I am sad to say that it was Colby's last derby. He has loved doing this and has planned all year for his next car.
The boys both did well! Colby won his division for fastest car and best design. Taylor won best design for his division and also won the sportsmanship award. They both had fun and were good participants! Ryan won't know what to do with himself next year only having one car to work on.
Colby and Taylor were especially excited this year to both be able to participate together. Last year, Taylor missed the derby by just a few weeks and was very sad to not be able to participate. So, Ryan helped him make his own car last year and raced in the"free run". All in all, it was a good day and I got some good pictures!

Sounds like a totally dad and son thing!! I'm sure here in the years to come Matt will be loving this too. Ryan and the boys did a great job on their cars. How fun!!
Oh pinewood derby cars. Milo will be just like Ryan, he's already talked about it for crying out loud. Love the paint jobs!
Could Taylor look anymore like Ryan? Seriously...
Kurt still has some of his pinewood derby cars, namely the camo one-boys will be boys!
