Today was the big day to go home and was I ever ready! I learned on this two week trip that I am really a home body. I like to be home in my own environment doing my own thing. We were a little sad, however, to leave because we had so much fun and it was exciting watching Colby and Taylor have so much fun all week.
We left the condo at 8:15 to be to the airport to catch our plane to Honolulu. After we got all checked in and settled, we realized our seats weren't by each other. They had us sitting two and two. So Colby and I decided to sit together. As the plane took off, I looked over at Colby and he was crying. I asked him what was wrong and he said, "Mom, I'm not ready to leave. This has been so much fun." It made me feel bad because I was so ready to be at home again. I assured him there would be other Hawaii trips in his future.
There was a little bit of a lay over in Honolulu, so at the airport we found some lunch and sat down in front of a TV. What was on? Just the aftermath of the flight that went down in Buffalo, New York. Ryan turned to me and asked me why would they show this at an airport terminal, I was too stunned to answer. Little did I know, Ryan had known about the crash for a couple of days and had managed to keep it hidden from me. I was thinking, "Hallelujah for the little orange pills in my purse!" and I'm sure Ryan was wondering how he was going to get me on the plane.
I did get on the plane (everyone clap) but it was a bumpy ride! The whole way! Midway between home and Hawaii we hit a storm and it slowed our plane down by about an hour. It was very eerie flying over the ocean at night. It is so dark and there is nothing to guide you. I kept thinking, "we are at 30-some-odd-thousand feet in the dark with nothing to guide us,great!" I was so glad to see the coastline of Cali!
It was so good to get home and get things back to our routine. We loved Hawaii and the memories that we made there as a family! We appreciate Ryan's good job and the generous company he works for that takes the time and money to show their appreciation to their managers.
We hope you have enjoyed your journey with us as we recount our trip! Thank you and we hope to see you again! Mahalo!
