Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives

Some of you may recognize the title of my post as a TV show. Hosted by Guy Fierri on the Food Network, Ryan and the boys are addicted to this show. I watch it in spurts but I love Man vs. Food because I think Adam is hilarious. If you've never watched this show it's basically Guy going to different restaurants and talking about and showing the food that their famous for or potentially could be famous for.

Ryan and I got the brilliant but not original idea that we would print off the list of Dives, Drive-Ins, and Dives for the state of Cali and go to as many of them as we could. Needless to say, they're are a lot. Many of them are out of our driving range but there are plenty of them that are close to keep us completely occupied for a long time.

Our first stop was Johnny Garlic's on Saturday. Colby was sledding with the Scouts, so after Taylor's Pinewood Derby, we loaded up and headed to Roseville. We did a little shopping and then headed to the restaurant. We had looked at the menu online and we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to order.

The outside of the restaurant.

I love this cute face! He entertained us while we waited for our food.

Taylor would rather be behind the camera than in front of it.

The food was amazing, that's putting it mildly! We LOVED it! Taylor and I had bacon-wrapped shrimp (more like prawns) skewers dipped in a chipotle-barbecue sauce served over garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed asparagus. Ryan had a burger made with Kobe meat (I have no idea what that is but apparently it's a big deal) and garlic fries. We were stuffed and happy! By the time we left there, the place was so packed with people waiting to be seated that we could hardly get out the door. Now, I am petitioning for anyone who wants to try it to go with us. I have had dreams every night about that delictable meal.

Bacon-wrapped shrimp skewers. They were heavenly.

The Kobe meat burger.

Oh yeah, and we shared a dessert which was very yummy!

Our next stop, who knows, but we are having a lot of fun! We are going to be spending a lot of time in the great city of San Francisco with Colby's basketball team, so maybe we'll hit one over there. Our goal is to try one a month, no more than that. I'm sure there are quite a few people doing the same thing, but what the heck, it gives us good family time and takes us somewhere new in our great state!

Milo will be so jealous, he wants to do this as we've seen almost every episode of this show! There are a couple by my brother's house and we never go. Maybe next time. The food sounds good and what a fun family outing. Can't wait to see where you go next month.
