It's not normal for me to go so long without blogging. I have a reason. I had a job change and I'm trying to adjust and learn a new routine. I have been in the HR/Risk Management Department for the last three years but have been trying to get my foot in the Retail Department. There were some aspects of my old job that I liked. I was able to get to know most of the employees in the company and talk to many of them on the phone but the downfall of my old job was there just wasn't enough work in a day to keep me occupied. There were some days I would absolutely go nuts!!
I started to make friends with the Retail Department, who happens to share the same office that I have been in. They took me on part-time in 2009 and have been trying to get me full-time since then. The Retail President, Dale, just kept telling me to be patient, that it was all in the timing. Boy was he right! There's been a lot of changes in our company due to the economic crisis and the very wet weather that we've been having. I got an email from Dale on Saturday letting me know that the Executives of the company had been in an all day meeting and that's when Dale made his move. I knew things were a little stirred up when my old boss, Nathan, told me that Retail was trying to get me and he was hanging on tightly. I still do a few things for Nathan but I no longer report directly to him.
I have been a lot busier at work this last week! I've been on the road for two days meeting dealers. I also had to move my desk from one part of the office to another and that was time consuming, too. I have some added responsibilites that I'm learning along with what I was already doing for Retail.
There's been so many things happen that I need to blog about! I think the most exciting is the news that Colby got last weekend. I have pictures to post along with that and hopefully will get that done soon. I have once again been reminded why I love California so much and the wonderful opportunities it has provided for the boys. I really questioned the decision of moving here but I can see now that it has been for our benefit. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
