However, we survived, both of us. He had practice again last night from 6:00-8:00 and my nerves were much more calm. Taylor is a trooper though, he runs and does everything they ask him to. He's giving it all he has because he really wants to make the team. There are 55 boys trying out for Taylor's age group and only 45 can make the team. Three boys quit last night and one boy through sobbing tears (he cried all through practice on Saturday, too) told his family that he hated them. I think his parents took him pretty seriously because they quickly escorted him off the field and left. Two other boys told the coach they didn't want to be there anymore. So, we're down to seven and I'm positive Taylor is praying every night that he won't be one of the seven to go.
I snapped plenty of pictures on Saturday trying to capture how hard they worked these boys. This league means business and there's no time for monkey business. I hope I can survive the season and the military-style coaching. It's no big deal to Taylor, Ryan, or Colby, they tell me that's just how it is. I'm really glad I'm not a guy!
Running around the mat thingys.
On a happy note, Saturday evening after Ryan got home our friends, the Birds, called us to see if we wanted to go wakeboarding for the evening. Of course Ryan said yes, and off we went. It has been so hot here that the boat and the water felt good. I didn't realize when Ryan and I got married that I was marrying a fish and would give birth to two other fish but that's how it ended up. Ryan and the boys LOVE water and I have some hesistations about it. However, being as my family all know how to wakeboard now and are good at it, there's been a little part of me that has been curious to learn for myself. I tried a couple of summer's ago and ended up drinking most of the Delta and had very little success. After watching Ryan and the boys do it, I thought I could probably give it a try. So, on Saturday I tried it and I got up and rode, not for very far but my body was out of the water and riding. I told Ryan that if I got up at all to snap my picture for proof to my family that I did it.
Now I'm so sore I can hardly move or write but it was well worth it! I got some great pictures of all of us wakeboarding that night. Taylor was so tired from football and wakeboarding that he went home and crashed immediately. He slept pretty good last night, too!
We will keep you posted on how his season goes. He is so excited to get his gear that that's all he talks about. It will be a lot harder running once he has his gear on but I haven't told him that. It won't take long for him to figure it out! Does this mean I have to buy one of my boys their first cup? This could be interesting.
Colby gets more brave every time we go!
Taylor has to be tired at this point, he rides forever
