Maui - Day 4 - The Trilogy Cruise

We had been anticipating this day since we arrived on Maui! Before we left for Hawaii, we had lots of people tell us to take the time to do the Trilogy Snorkel Cruise. Ryan and I weren't sure how the boys were going to take to snorkeling in the ocean. Yes, they have snorkel gear at home and they snorkel in the bathtub (don't ask) but that's a little different than being in the open water with fish and other ocean creatures under you.

Once we concluded that our boys are a couple of fish and loved to snorkel, we decided to give the cruise a try. We had to be at the port at 8 AM to catch the boat. They only take about 30 people out so it's a relatively small group. From the time we stepped on to the boat, we knew it was going to be fun! We had a fun, fantastic crew who kept us entertained. They took us to an island about an hour from shore called Molokini. It looks like a half-moon shape in the middle of all the islands. It was about and hour and ten minute ride and along the way we were fed a wonderful breakfast and saw a lot of whales.

When we arrived at Molokini, the water was so clear and blue. It was breathtaking! They gave us short instructions on how to snorkel, to not get close to the island because of the coral, etc. Just as I got all geared up and belive me, it took some courage, the captain mentioned that we might see Reef Sharks. What?!?! Are you kidding me? He said the the scuba divers, who were also with us, sometimes disturb the sharks so they come more inland to be left alone. That's when a little panick started to set in. Somehow, once we were in the water, I got paired up with poor Colby. I say poor because I'm sure he will have permanent nail marks in his arm from me! He was so patient and good, just like always! We didn't see any sharks. Whew! We did, however, see beautiful fish. The underwater life in Hawaii is spectacular! I loved it!

We then went around the island to another place called Turtle Town. You guessed it, it is resident to may turtles in the waters of Hawaii. They anchored the boat there and let everyone snorkel with the turtles. At this point, I had had my snorkel fun for the day, so I stayed on the boat and worked on my tan and chit-chatted with some other women who had also had their snorkel fun for the day.

Once everyone was back on board, the crew fed us a fabulous lunch and dessert. They also put up the sails so we could sail back to the port. Along the way we saw so many whales playing in the water. It is amazing to see them in their natural habitat and a lot of them had babies with them! It was so cute! We even saw a dolphin on our way back to shore! We had put in a full day and we were tired little snorkelers!
