Our New Addition

Here he is, our new family member! We adopted him from my nephew and neice while we were in Utah (thanks again Chad and Natali!). His name is Hurley and we love him! L.O.V.E. him. When Chad approached me about taking him, I wasn't sure at first. I am not a pet lover by nature but when I stepped back and thought about the boys and pleaded my case to Ryan, I realized that it would be a big mistake to not take him.

Colby and Taylor are growing up fast. In three more years Colby will be sixteen and driving. I doubt he's going to care much about a pet then. We have been promising the boys a doy since we moved here five years ago and it hasn't happened. There were more reasons to take him than reasons not to take him. Plus, every boy needs a dog in their childhood, in my opinion.

He's adjusted well and so have we. He's a great passenger in the car, we even took him to L.A. this weekend for Colby's basketball tournament, and he did wonderful. He loves to play and loves the boys. They give him a lot of attention and play with him constantly. I told the boys that he's not going to have any hair left on his little body because they've rubbed it all off. Oh yeah, did I mention that he doesn't shed and I love that about him? I couldn't handle animal hair in the house.

We have also found out that he doesn't like to be called "chicken leg" and he is over the moon for McDonald's french fries. We don't feed him table food, normally, but at the tournament he was so good that I gave him a few. We really are excited to have him!! Taylor said to me in the parking lot at the hotel as we were walking around, "Mom, I just love Hurley. He is a special dog". I said, "What do you mean by special"? He said, "I can't describe it but he just feels special". That right there makes it all worth it.

Hurley's a cutie! Why did Chad want to get rid of him? Sounds like he's a perfect fit into a nutty family...well, I guess he was already used to being in a nutty family!! I agree...boys do need a dog...C'Me is still here and has given the boys lots of memories. It will be a sad day when she goes...
Glad your Thanksgiving was so fun!!! I wish that I could have been with family, too. Maybe next year :0}

LOVE this post. Made me cry. :( Especially what Taylor said at the end. Hurls IS a special dog and I am SO glad that it is you who gets to love him now and be his family. We miss him lots but there is not a better feeling knowing that he is in good hands and that he is being loved A LOT. I can't stop laughing at the chicken leg comment and I can only imagine how irritated he gets! I just love that pup! Give him kisses for me! Keep up the posts on hurls. They make me happy! Love you gusy!

He's so cute! I love animals from afar. You're a good mom to let them have him. I wonder if I'll ever give in to animals, because I just don't want to.

Taylor's comment is just to sweet!
